Who are Off The Tools Alliance and what do they sell?

Off The Tools was founded by Wayne Bettess to coach the UK trades and construction industry, and most people meet it through the podcast, Off The Tools with Wayne and Andy, which has run for years and features trades owners, suppliers and business guests. The company, Off The Tools Limited (company number 12982189), was incorporated on 28 October 2020 as Bettess & Bazil Limited, renamed in June 2022, and is registered at The Incuba in Dunstable. It is active.

The Alliance is the membership. The site describes it as no-nonsense business coaching for UK tradesmen: plumbers, electricians, builders, gas engineers and the rest. The three tiers, from the site's own FAQ:

  • Alliance at £197 plus VAT a month, with online training, resources and the community.
  • Alliance XL at £297 plus VAT a month, which adds a monthly 30-minute one-to-one coaching call with Wayne Bettess or the coaching team, plus accountability support.
  • Alliance Mastermind at £997 plus VAT a month, with weekly support and one-hour monthly calls.

The site also mentions help implementing tools such as Quotient quoting software, with full setup from £750 plus VAT, so there are paid extras beyond the membership.

Below the paid tiers sits a free Off The Tools Alliance community on Skool, with 501 members when we looked, promising access to training and to Wayne himself. That is the sensible place to start.

What does Off The Tools Alliance cost and what is the commitment?

Off The Tools Alliance costs £197, £297 or £997 plus VAT a month depending on tier, so £236.40 to £1,196.40 a month with VAT if you are not VAT registered and cannot reclaim it. The site does not publish a minimum term or a cancellation notice period, so ask before you join.

The pricing is clearer than most coaching offers: the numbers are on the page rather than revealed on a call. That counts for something. Over a year the entry tier is about £2,364 plus VAT, which is less than a one-off programme such as TradeCoach's £6,000 but, unlike a course, it keeps going until you stop it.

What do customers say about Off The Tools Alliance?

Off The Tools Alliance has 26 reviews on Trustpilot, all five-star, with a 4.7 TrustScore. Reviews mention the coaching and accountability, profit improvements, and that the coaches run businesses of their own. One reads "Wayne and Andy have plenty of knowledge as they both have running businesses" (Adam Mullan, Trustpilot, August 2026).

As with most coaching businesses, the sample is small, and the podcast audience is far larger than the paying membership. Google and Facebook review counts were not retrievable from public pages, so they are not published here.

Who does Off The Tools Alliance suit?

Off The Tools Alliance suits a trades owner who wants a coach in their corner every month rather than a one-off course: someone who listens to the podcast already, likes the people, and will turn up to the calls. The XL tier's monthly one-to-one is the point at which it becomes personal coaching rather than content.

It suits someone who wants a specific marketing outcome less well. The Alliance coaches you on customer acquisition; it does not run anything for you, and the lead-gen, reviews and SEO still need doing by you or by a tool after the call ends.

Where Growth Bull fits instead

Growth Bull is the tool that does the review and ranking part without a call. Growth Bull's Review Builder connects to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent, HubSpot or Pipedrive and sends one text and one email asking for a Google review after every paid invoice. It is £69 a month, with a 7-day free trial and no contract.

Complete Growth at £129 a month adds Rank Map, which scans a grid of points around your town and names who holds number one for your trade, so you can see the map pack (the box of three businesses with a map at the top of Google) change over the weeks. Keyword Tracker follows your search positions, and AI Visibility asks ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI who they recommend in your town and shows whether you are named.

Growth Bull will not hold you accountable or coach you on pricing. If that is what you need, the Alliance is a fair way to get it, and plenty of owners would run both: the membership for the business, the tool for the reviews.

Verdict

In our view, Off The Tools Alliance is a well-liked, transparently priced coaching membership with a genuine community behind it, and the free Skool group makes it easy to judge before paying. The things to check are the minimum term and whether the entry tier gives you enough contact to be worth £197 plus VAT a month.

If the gap is reviews and rankings rather than coaching, start with the cheaper fix. Try Growth Bull free for seven days at growthbull.io/signup, or book a call with Tom.
